There is no dearth of tourist places in India and among the twenty seven states as well as three union territories; you can visit any one of the places to find something of interest. There is not a single place in India that does not have a place of interest. There is no such thing as most visited or the most popular tourist places of India since every part of India is visited by tourists and is popular for some reason or the other. But one of the most visited and most famous holiday destination of India is south India. South India is a vast place but can be traveled within around a month since it is peninsular in shape and hence easier.

South India travel includes four major states in south of India, namely Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka as well as the three union territories Goa, Pondicherry and Lakshadweep islands. Although these states and union territories are together known as south India, each individual place has its very own characteristics that are unique and fascinating as well. Hence even if you cannot travel the whole of south India, you can take one place at a time but make sure that you cover each place well to understand the individuality of the places. For instance the traditional attire of Kerala is white is strikingly different from the traditional attire of Tamil Nadu which is vibrantly colorful.

The cuisines of the different south Indian places are varied as well. Goa is known for its excellent sea food while Andhra Pradesh is popular for the Biriyani which is a popular cuisine of Hyderabad, the capital of the state. Similarly, the place of interest in every different city of every different state is varied and unique. The biggest attraction of Chennai is the beautiful beaches while the biggest draw of Kerala is the backwaters. Goa is popular for the happening beach parties and Andhra Pradesh is home to several historical monuments. The state capital of Karnataka, Bangalore is an important IT hub that is famous for its nightlife as well.

Hence regardless of whether you wish to travel the entire south of India or one state or union territory at a time, you would not have shortage of interesting places to visit. You would not have any trouble with transport or accommodation either since tourism is well promoted in south India.
