South India has some excellent places worth visiting at least once in a life time. For instance, one such place to visit in Kerala is the Peechi Dam. Kerala is already known as God’s own country while Tamil Nadu is enchanting. No matter which place you wish to travel, this blog would give you a couple of great ideas on some of the exclusive destinations in south India and which are not flocked by tourists much.

One such place would be the Peechi Dam which is in Thrissur. The exact location of the Peechi Dam is outside the city of Thrissur in Kerala around 22 kilometers away. Although it is irrigation dam and supplies water to the nearby villages of Thrissur, it is also worth a place of visit. The dam is built on the Manali River and has a catchment area of nearly 3200 acres with cascading fountains and also extensive botanical gardens. In other words, the area is an interesting place for any tourist looking for solitude in serenity.
You can also check out the tuskers on the banks of the Manali River, at the Peechi- Vazhani Wildlife Sanctuary. This sanctuary is built on an area of 125 square kilometer and has been entertaining people since 1958.
You can also take some time out to visit the Palakkad Fort that is also well known as the Tipu’s Fort. It is located at the center of the Palakkad town of Kerala. You can make an idea from the name of the fort that it was built by Haider Ali in 1766 AD. It is also a great place to visit and also relax inside the fort. There is a huge ground between the Palakkad Town Hall and the fort. The town hall is also known as the Kota Maidanam or the Fort Grounds. These grounds have once served as the stable for the horses and the elephants of Tipu Sultan’s army men. It is now used for holding exhibitions, cricket matches and other kinds of public meetings. There is also an open air auditorium nearby by the name of Rappadi. It is being preserved by the Archaeological Survey of India. They are all located near each other and you can certainly visit all these places on a day out in Kerala trip with your family members. It is imperative to say that you will certainly enjoy such a lovely outing on a sunny holiday.
