According to the Sanghom secretary and treasurer, Ratheesh R. Mohan and P. Mohanachandran respectively, we have arrived at this decision due to the unprecedented delay made by government departments in the clearing process of mudbanks on the race course as well as delaying in other boat race arrangements of the event. Adding more to their decision, the leaders of the Sanghom stated that the committee has decided to organize only the traditional snakeboat pageantry on the day of Uthrittathi.

The resignation of its president K.V. Sambadevan has left the PSS in crisis. Further the resolution of organization’s general body to not include P.J. Kurien, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman; K. Sivadasan Nair, MLA and Anto Antony, MP in the protest for their support to the controversial private airport project at Aranmula has also affected the party. Further, the resolution also proposed that the private air would have to convert the paddy land and wet lands housing many worship places into destruction of Pampa.
